When Topsy Turvy started airing their commercials nation-wide, people went bonkers for the product.  It’s basically a fabric bag with a coiled wire support, in which gardeners are supposedly growing massive, delicious tomatoes.   If you’d like to grow tomatoes upside, down, though, I suggest you make your own upside down container instead of investing in a Topsy Turvy bag system.  (Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the TT works wonderfully, I just prefer to do things with minimal expense. )

How to Make a Homemade Topsy Turvy Strawberry Planter

Like all my other fruits and vegetables in my container garden, I grow strawberries in a container. Years ago, I used to do this with a traditional strawberry pot. When my container garden started to get a little crowded, though, my containers were competing for space in the yard. I realized that the only way to go was up. People were growing tomatoes upside down, and I’d seen single strawberry plants in hanging baskets before…so I decided that I would grow strawberries upside down.

Of all the container gardening methods I’ve heard of, this has got to be one of the easiest way in the world to container garden.
The only things you need to grow vegetables in plastic potting soil bags are bags of potting soil and seedlings.  How simple is that?  Just start your seeds indoors as usual, or purchase the seedlings of your choice.   Once the seedlings have been hardened off and are ready to be planted outdoors, you’re ready to start your potting soil bag container garden.
