How to Pot Indoor Herbs

Just a quicky rant:
I saw an infomercial for an “indoor herb garden” kit that the merchant is promoting as an easy way to grow herbs indoors. It made me cringe! The merchant and promoters obviously  have no experience in container gardening, growing herbs, or growing herbs indoors. These guys are selling one large planter in which to grow ALL of the herb seeds they send you.
Nooooooooooooo!
The merchant obviously has no experience with container gardening, herbs, or growing herbs indoors. You should NEVER grow all of your herbs in one pot. …

How to Care for an Herb Indoor Garden

Most of the herbs that I grow, I grow in my little indoor herb garden. It’s just easier this way. I’ve decided that because of the extreme heat this summer, I’m going to start an indoor container garden.   I’ll grow basil, rosemary, chives, thyme, and dill.  I’m also going to try to grow lavender for the first time in my life.
I have a sunny kitchen window, which should do nicely.    Unfortunately, the window looks directly into the window of my nosey neighbors’ kitchen window, so I’ll have to figure out a way for me to allow my plants to get full sunlight, while keeping our privacy.  Hm.

How to Grow Holy Basil in a Container Garden

Holy basil is a member of the basil family. The leaves look like most other basils. The plant grows in “white” and “red” varieties, but the color name refers to the stems of the plants; the leaves are green on both varieties. The full grown height is about 18 inches tall, but the size of the container you grow them in can control how large they get.
I grow my holy basil in a small 6 inch pot in my living room. They require full to partial sun, and the windows …
